Plastic Menace - Pollution - MicroPlatics

Image
Plastic pollution is a major issue facing our planet. Plastic is a synthetic material made from organic polymers, mostly derived from fossil fuels, that can take hundreds of years to break down in the environment. The production and use of plastic has skyrocketed since the post-World War II economic boom, with single-use plastic accounting for 40% of plastic production. Of the 9.2 billion tonnes of plastic produced from 1950-2017, approximately 7 billion tonnes became plastic waste. Each year, around 8 million tonnes of plastic ends up in the world's oceans. Source :  www.theguardian.com ( 414 million pieces of plastic found on remote island group in Indian Ocean | Plastics | The Guardian ) The harmful effects of plastic are significant. Marine plastic pollution impacts at least 267 species worldwide, including sea turtles, seabirds, and marine mammals. Microplastics, which are plastic pieces less than five millimetres across, are present in many organisms and can be difficult to

EHS & ESG

EHS and ESG are both acronyms used in the context of corporate sustainability and responsibility. EHS stands for Environmental, Health, and Safety, ESG stands for Environmental, Social, and Governance. EHS refers to the policies and practices that companies implement to ensure compliance with environmental regulations, protect the health and safety of their employees, and minimize their impact on the environment. This includes activities such as reducing greenhouse gas emissions, managing hazardous waste, and ensuring workplace safety. ESG on the other hand, is a broader framework that considers a company's performance in three key areas: environmental, social, and governance. Environmental factors include issues such as climate change, resource depletion, and pollution. Social factors include issues such as human rights, labor practices, and community engagement. Governance factors include issues such as board diversity, executive compensation, and shareholder rights. While EHS

Energy - Global warming - Major Contributor

Image
Energy production and use are major contributors to global warming, which refers to the long-term increase in Earth's average surface temperature due to the buildup of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Most of the world's energy is produced by burning fossil fuels like coal, oil, and natural gas, which release carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. These gases trap heat from the sun and cause the Earth's temperature to rise. As global temperatures rise, they can have devastating effects on the environment and human societies. These effects can include more frequent and severe heat waves, droughts, and floods, as well as more powerful storms and rising sea levels. Reducing global warming requires a transition away from fossil fuels and towards cleaner sources of energy, such as renewable energy sources like wind, solar, and hydro power. In addition, energy conservation and efficiency measures can also help to reduce the amount of energy needed to

Refrigerant Emission - Scope 1 Emission - Calculation

Image
Refrigerant Emission Calculator: A  refrigerant  is a working fluid  used in the refrigeration cycle  of air conditioning  systems and heat pumps  where in most cases they undergo a repeated phase transition  from a liquid  to a gas  and back again. Refrigerants are heavily regulated due to their toxicity, flammability  and the contribution of CFC and HCFC refrigerants to ozone depletion  and that of HFC refrigerants to climate change . Other refrigerants include ammonia, sulfur dioxide, carbon dioxide and non-halogenated hydrocarbons such as methane. The ideal refrigerant has good thermodynamic properties, is unreactive chemically, and safe. The desired thermodynamic properties are a đŸ™‹boiling point somewhat below the target temperature, a high heat of vaporization, a moderate density in liquid form, a relatively high density in gaseous form, and a high critical temperature. The document attached will helps to calculate the emission of the refrigerant emission from the sheet which ca
