Energy - Global warming - Major Contributor

 

Energy production and use are major contributors to global warming, which refers to the long-term increase in Earth's average surface temperature due to the buildup of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.

Most of the world's energy is produced by burning fossil fuels like coal, oil, and natural gas, which release carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. These gases trap heat from the sun and cause the Earth's temperature to rise.

As global temperatures rise, they can have devastating effects on the environment and human societies. These effects can include more frequent and severe heat waves, droughts, and floods, as well as more powerful storms and rising sea levels.

Reducing global warming requires a transition away from fossil fuels and towards cleaner sources of energy, such as renewable energy sources like wind, solar, and hydro power. In addition, energy conservation and efficiency measures can also help to reduce the amount of energy needed to power our homes, businesses, and transportation systems, and thus reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
